General Principles

  1. Confirmed cases or isolation and quarantine cases are required to report. Please refer to NYCU Covid-19 Reporting Process for more information.
  2. Encouraging to install and use the Taiwan Social Distancing app.
Android: click here to download, iOS: click here to download
  3. Please follow up the Individual universal precautions (IUPs): wear face masks, wash your hands often, make good use of testing booths on campus.

Curriculum & Exam

  1. All courses are resumed to original teaching methods. Please refer to Acdemic Section for more details.
  2. Oral defense for the qualification examinations and thesis defenses may be conducted online via video conference mode. The students need to choose the examination method on the Degree Examination Grade Sheet; no additional application is required in advance. All committee members need to participate in the online oral exam simultaneously, no substitute allowed. Each college can determine whether video/audio documentation of the examinations is required. For the oral examination documents, each college can determine whether the documents be handled in e-file (electronic signature) or by direct mail (paper copies). For in-person oral exams, thesis committee members and students must wear mask and keep social distance.

Student Leave

  1. Students who receive the COVID-19 vaccine can apply for 3 days vaccination leave (including the day of vaccination) with their COVID-19 vaccination record cards and will not be recorded as absent.
  2. Students should indicate their symptoms of illness for “sick leave” applications in the online leave system. The applications will be approved once the procedures are completed.
  3. Students and faculty who never wear masks and have been exposed to a covid-19 infected person over 15 minutes within two days before his or her first symptom appearance can ask for a disease prevention leave. Those who take a disease prevention leave cannot go to campus. Please link to Student Epidemic Prevention Leave Regulation for more detail.
  4. Students who take Disease Prevention Leave due to the pandemic still need to keep in touch with their instructors and abide by the regulations of their courses during the leave period.

Covid-19 Screening

  1. Infected students and faculty members are allowed to come back to campus after completing 7-day home isolation. It is also required for International travelers to complete 3+4-day home quarantine and self-initiated epidemic prevention before coming back to campus.
  2. Students and faculty who live in the same household or dormitory with a covid-19 infected person would be identified as a close contact. Others who are not identified as close contacts can study and work in campus as usual.
    • Fully vaccinated (at least 3 doses) close contacts: can come back to campus to work, but do not allow to attend to in-person classes or take part in crowed activities as well as enter dormitory.
    • Not been fully vaccinated close contacts: do not allow enter campus in the period of 3-day home isolation, but can come back to campus to work in the period of 4-day self-initiated epidemic prevention. It is not allowed to attend to in-person classes or take part in crowed activities as well as enter dormitory in the period of 4-day self-initiated epidemic prevention.
